You may enjoy blogging, but there are some very important things you need to remember if you are blogging at work. Most employers do not approve of non-work related activities while you are on the job. So unless you are getting paid to blog at work, you may want to reconsider your actions. Bottom line is that while you are on the clock, your attention should be on your work. People will tend to get a little too relaxed at work and think that they can get away with most anything. You want to remain professional and focused on your job. Don't think for a minute that your coworkers and boss are not noticing your actions. They might not say anything, but you can never tell when someone is making a mental note of what you are doing.
Blogging is something that you should do away from your job. Blogging about your job, coworkers, or boss is never wise, and can land you on the employment line very quickly. You can also get into legal trouble because of your employer's intellectual property, and possible compromise of workplace information. Your workplace has proprietary information and a setting that is to be kept private from possible competitors. By blogging about your job, you may be giving those competitors an edge over your employer. This will land you in hot water fast.
With the recent incident of the blogger in New York City who trashed a model's reputation last month. The blogger, although anonymous through her blog was exposed for her remarks, and faces possible criminal charges. Having a blog and using an alias does not guarantee your anonymity. Be careful about what you say online, because your remarks and identity can be traced.
